E-receipts must be from retailers/stores on our proprietary list of the top 1,000+ online merchants.
Please note, BuyChat requires that receipts come directly from the merchant.
- Receipts that are from payment processors (e.g. PayPal, Square, Amazon Pay), consumer-to-consumer platforms (e.g., eBay, Etsy) or distribution companies (e.g. Ticketmaster, Groupon) are not accepted.
- Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, Chase QuickPay, and other person to person payment services/apps are not accepted.
The same rules for what qualifies as a valid paper receipt also applies to e-receipts including:
- E-receipts must be in English and prices must be in local currency.
What types of e-receipts are not accepted?
The same rules for what is considered an invalid paper receipt also applies to e-receipts including:
- Business or company related purchases. Receipts must be for items purchased for you and your family's personal use.
- Bills such as cell phone, utilities, doctor, medical, car payments, mortgage, insurance, school tuition, legal services, etc.
- Receipts with a $0 value.
- Receipts for returns.
- Receipts for participation in games of chance (e.g. lottery tickets, scratch-off tickets).
- Account Balance Alerts, Money Orders, ATM Receipts, Account Transfers, Account Inquiries, Wire Transfers, Deposit/Withdrawal Statements, and Bank Draft/Checks.
- Acorns, Stash Invest, TD Ameritrade and other investing services/apps.
- Unpaid invoices.
- Shipping confirmations and tracking updates.
- Screenshots from a computer/mobile device.
- If the phrase "This is not a receipt" appears anywhere.
- Scans of a paper receipt, shipping label or packing slip.
- Photo submissions of online order e-receipts that have been printed out.
